Beyond the Plant Label is a visitor experience platform that brings gardens to life through the voices of the people who tend them. Using small NFC chips embedded in plant labels, visitors simply tap their phone to unlock a short audio story from the gardeners themselves.
No app to download. No QR code to squint at. Just a tap, and suddenly a gardener is speaking in your ear, sharing the story, the science, and the soul of the plant in front of you.
Visitors hold their phone to the plant label. The NFC chip instantly opens a page on their browser. No app, no download, no friction.
A short audio story plays, recorded by the gardener who works with that plant every day. Personal, warm, and full of detail you will not find anywhere else.

Inverewe Garden sits on a peninsula on the shores of Loch Ewe in the Scottish Highlands. Created from bare moorland in 1862, it now holds one of the most extraordinary plant collections in the world, nurtured by a team of dedicated gardeners whose knowledge spans decades.
Beyond the Plant Label was born here in 2026, as a way to connect Inverewe's visitors more deeply to the plants, the people, and the remarkable story of the garden itself. The July 2026 trial marks the beginning of something we believe will transform how people experience gardens everywhere.
